Why is the magazine called SPIGOT?

First thing in the morning, we turn on the SPIGOT. We splash water from the SPIGOT onto our face. Wake up! We take a long drink of cool water from the SPIGOT. Refreshing! We brush our teeth and swish water from the SPIGOT around in our mouth. Clean and fresh! Water trickles out in a thin stream, or water gushes out like a flood. It all depends on the turn of the SPIGOT. 

Here at our magazine, we like to think of our brain as a SPIGOT. With a little imagination, we turn on the SPIGOT of our thoughts. We see pictures flowing in our mind. We tap into our ideas. We brainstorm. We flood our mind with questions. Words trickle and flow and pour into our conversation and onto our papers. Our magazine, SPIGOT, brings knowledge to think about, to use, to ponder, and to store in the reservoir of our mind. SPIGOT is here to turn your tap on. Let’s flow with it.

The Publishers

David Cochran, EdD, has served in many educational positions and ventures.  He has been an elementary and middle school teacher, middle school supervisor, high school vice principal, district Director of Math, Science, and Technology, adult school director, and college professor.  He has also owned two other publishing businesses – Fruition Publications and HyperMedia Associates.  As a writer, he has had published 6 books and over 30 articles.

Valeria B. Girandola, MSEd, is a former elementary school teacher and Reading Specialist, K-12. She has taught in Upper Freehold (NJ) Regional School District and Montgomery Township (NJ) School District, at Mercer County Community College, NJ, and in the graduate and undergraduate Developmental Reading Programs at the College of New Jersey.  Her writing has been published in both professional and children’s publications.  Her degrees include a BS, Elementary Education, Fordham University, an MS,  Developmental Reading, The College of New Jersey, and post-graduate studies at the University of Utah.
